On April 10, Michael premiered at the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin. The $170 million biopic of the troubled star has been anticipated for years, and Friday night marked the movie’s high-stakes introduction to the world.

Much of the Jackson clan was on hand to support the film, including 29-year-old Prince and 24-year-old Bigi. The brothers wore matching black suits, complete with symbolic armbands emblazoned with their father’s iconic “dancing feet.” But there was one Jackson who was noticeably missing: Paris. And the reason why is heartbreaking.

“I spoke up, I wasn’t heard”: Paris keeps it real

Model and singer Paris is no stranger to the spotlight, but she didn’t want to be on the red carpet at the movie premiere about her father’s life. Instead, she was spotted 5,000 miles away in West Hollywood, dressed casually and chatting with friends.

It was Paris’s silent protest over a movie that she never wanted to be made. While she was initially supportive, she soon became disenchanted after reading the screenplay. In 2025, she lamented that the movie wasn’t about the man she knew, but rather a glitzy musical that did not ring true to her memories. She later took to social media to share her feelings, at one point saying: “I spoke up, I wasn’t heard, I f**ked off.”

When Colman Domingo (the actor who plays Joe Jackson) complimented Paris in the press for being “very helpful” on set, Paris publicly snapped back: “Don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on a movie I had 0% involvement in.”

On April 11, Paris shared her feelings on Instagram, in part saying:

“The film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy. And they’re going to be happy with it…It’s Fantasyland, it’s not real. But it’s sold to you as real.

The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies.”

Ego trip or tribute? Paris says the movie is driven by greed

It isn’t just that Paris doesn’t believe Michael‘s content is truthful. She also feels the movie is a blatant money grab by the Jackson Estate managers. Paris has been vocal about what she calls a “botched production” and about her belief that estate managers John Branca and John McClain are burning through her father’s money.

Most notably, she gave a scalding read of Branca hiring A-lister Miles Teller to play him in the biopic. In a lawsuit filed just last month, Paris slammed this high-budget choice as a “peculiar and presumably costly casting decision.”

This is just one of many accusations Paris makes in her lawsuit against the co-executors, where she also accuses the pair of skimming money and raking in unauthorized “lavish gifts.”

Paris, Prince, and Bigi refuse to let the movie—or the lawsuit—tear them apart

Although Paris is taking center stage in the family estate drama, her brothers have her back. Bigi and Prince are also part of the legal petition asking the co-executors to give a full recount of their 2025 spending.

In an Instagram story posted on April 11, Paris made it clear that nothing will come between her and her brothers:

“I love my brothers more than anything, and I support their choice to celebrate the ‘legend,’ but I can’t stand on a carpet for a movie that treats the truth like an option.”
